I Want Your Feedback on Deficit Reduction
Dear Friend,
As a result of two unfunded wars and unprecedented tax cuts for the rich, our nation has a very serious deficit problem.
As a member of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition, I have strongly advocated for our country to rein in spending and find a path to fiscal responsibility.
November 23 is the deadline for the Super Committee, created by Congress in August, to submit to Congress a deficit reduction plan. The Committee must recommend at least $1.2 trillion in cuts to the budget over a ten year period. If the committee cannot find agreement, severe automatic cuts will be enacted.
The Super Committee has some very tough decisions to make. I will look to support a balanced, responsible and bipartisan solution to reduce our deficit that will help grow our economy and expand our middle class, while making our crucial government services including Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid more efficient.
I will not promote a deficit reduction plan that protects the richest of Americans at the expense of middle class families and our seniors.
What cuts do you think the Super Committee should consider? Please send me a message here with your thoughts. I look forward to hearing your priorities on jobs and the deficit.
Sincerely,
Loretta Sanchez
Member of Congress
